Message by Tikhomirov Yu.S. about the observation of an unusual object in Leningrad

On the night of May 14-15 of this year , I was traveling without passengers along the ave. Veterans towards Avtovo. Before reaching 100-150 meters to the intersection with Marshal Zhukov Ave., I was stopped by a trolleybus driver, who immediately drew my attention to something unusual. It was about 1-45

a glowing object is moving towards the horizon. The sight was amazing. A small disk with a clear outline hung motionless in the sky, glowing with a bluish-greenish color (glare to greenish). The apparent dimensions of the disk were approximately 1/3 of the diameter of the lunar disk at the zenith. From the lower part of the object, clear smoothly curved and narrow-band rays resembled, forming a kind of "bud". To the edges of the "bud" the rays approximately thickened. They stretched, apparently, all the way to the ground, hiding behind nearby houses, and shone like a daylight lamp. Number of beams I didn't count, but it seems to me that there were no more than 20 of them. The entire space between the extreme rays also shone with the same color, but fainter. Looking at this "bud", I had a complete feeling that I was seeing a volume bell (or dome) slightly tilted back, illuminated from the inside and hollow.

The brightness of the glow of the object as a whole was average, and the rays shone brighter than the circle.

At the same time, to the right of the object, I saw a column of dark cinnamon smoke stretching from the ground, somewhat tortuous in places and with gaps. Then it gradually blurred and, turning into an elongated cloud, hung in the sky for a long time.

For about 3-5 minutes, the object was in a static state, and then it began to move away in the wrong direction in which I saw it (towards the bay). The trajectory of his flight was perceived by me as horizontal and straight.

As soon as the object started moving, the "bud" expanded somewhat. With the removal of the object, donuts of rays became visible, rising from behind the houses, the glow became dimmer and dimmer and after 1.5-2 minutes the object disappeared behind the houses.

Another phenomenon was also observed. For a few seconds, faint flickering highlights played in the sky below and to the right of the object, forming a vague cross-shaped figure, glowing with a light close to orange. I remember that this flickering seemed to begin at the moment of the object's departure. And when the last glare went out, for a moment a body with tolerably distinguishable contours in the form of steam, surrounded by a thick disk, faintly glowing dark red (or maroon), shone in this place (like a spotlight beam). The body looked ghostly. But when we exchanged remarks with the trolleybus driver, he said that he had not seen any ball encircled by a disk. I remember the moment well and I don't think I imagined it.

During the observation, I experienced a feeling of some anxiety caused, apparently, by the strangeness of the phenomenon. Only when the object began to move away, I felt relieved.

I met with such a thing for the first time in my life.
