Initial data
Anna got a job at the Elkhorn Lodge Hotel in May 2003.
The staff (mostly students) were divided into those who serviced the hotel and those who worked on the ranch. At that time, it was not yet the season, so there were not very many people working at the hotel. In addition to Anna, there was also Mary, who worked in the morning, and a girl from Lithuania named Yolita. There were also two other employees who stood out, Chuck and Wanda, an elderly couple who had worked at this place for many years. At the same time, Chuck was very ill (emphysema of the lungs) and moved with an oxygen tank, so Wanda did the main work, and he helped her as much as possible.
All the staff lived in special dormitories next to the hotel. It was divided into male and female halves, there were many rooms with double beds, but there was enough space for everyone so that everyone got a separate room.
The hotel itself is very old. It has a museum with antiques and a whole hall with hunting trophies. This eerie atmosphere was felt in the dark corridors without windows, old halls and rooms filled with history. It is not surprising that there was talk among the staff about ghosts living on the territory of the hotel. In particular, the most popular was the ghost of Eleanor, whose appearance foreshadowed trouble (for example, she appeared before a fire and before a gas leak in a guest house). She usually appeared in the spring in her room on the 2nd floor on the corner of the building. Fans of the paranormal, who often rented this particular room, said that the curtain in the bathroom often sways by itself.
That evening, Anna and Yolita went to the first floor to sit by the fireplace. Yolita was very afraid of ghosts and persuaded Anna to live together in the same room. Suddenly, a severe thunderstorm began. Suddenly, amidst the sounds of the elements, Yolita and then Anna heard footsteps on the 2nd floor. Anna decided that it could be one of the employees, but Yolita decided that it was a ghost and began to call her friend to go up to the 2nd floor to look.
Anna refused, but then both heard the phone ring, but not at the reception, but in one of the rooms on the 2nd floor. Which was very strange, and the girls still decided to get up, despite the fact that they felt fear, cold and nausea.
The bell rang from Eleanor's room. As the girls approached her, the door swung open abruptly. Yolita went to the old push-button phone and picked up the receiver, while Anna remained waiting near the door. Yolita listened attentively to something, and then, after a minute, hung up the phone.
As soon as she did, the bathroom door opened and then closed by itself. Anna jumped up to Yolita, grabbed her by the arm and pulled her out of the creepy room to the first floor. Pausing to catch their breath, they heard the slamming of doors on the second floor. This gave them strength, and the girls ran away to the hostel.
When Anna tried to find out from Yolita what she had heard on the phone, her friend pretended that she did not understand what Anna was talking about.
The next day, they were sent to the back of the building to wipe hunting trophies. Suddenly they heard a strange noise. When they returned to the rooms, they saw Chuck and Wanda turn off the phones in the rooms and throw them into a large shopping cart. They didn't say why they did it.

Investigation
The Elkhorn is considered the oldest continuously operating hotel in the state of Colorado. It was built in the 1870s. Old Man Mountain is located on site. The use of this sacred place dates back more than 3,000 years. It is believed that about thirty-eight different indigenous peoples used the mountaintop site for the Vision Quest and Sundance ceremonies.
The previous CEO of Elkhorn facilitated contact with Eric Wright, a paranormal researcher, and his wife Tammila Kay. Wright and Kay explored Elkhorn for three years and made the documentary The Walking History of the Elkhorn Lodge.[1]
White and Kay are fifth—generation Colorado residents. Their families helped build most of the front ridge in the Pikes Peak area.
Wright and Kay have worked on numerous film projects as an assistant producer and cinematographer on projects for various channels, including The History Channel, Discovery, SYFY, The Weather Channel and their own production company Pocket Watch Productions.
Wright first became interested in the paranormal about 35 years ago, when he experienced his first supernatural event as a child. While at his family's old homestead in Colorado City, he saw something come out of the wall into the living room and into the corner, where it unfolded and disappeared.
When he described this phenomenon to his father, grandparents, he said that they turned pale. When he started asking them what it could be, his father, a former firefighter from Colorado Springs, told him that he thought the ghost was his great-grandfather. An old man lived in the house. It is assumed that the old man went down the stairs to the oil stove, which exploded and killed him. Today there are no stairs or an oil stove in the house.
What kind of spirits can roam the territory?
It is said that many of the ranch workers who helped build the cabin can still roam the grounds. The inscriptions carved on the rafters of buildings are still legible.
There are also reports of a white horse with pink eyes, which is considered the protector of sacred lands and burial grounds. It is rumored that this white horse can be seen on stormy nights.
Investigator Wright believes that the most active presence on the territory is a spirit named Maddy. Maddy was an eight-year-old girl who died in 1874. She died after being accidentally shot in the face after she and her brother found a shotgun leaning against a tree. Unfortunately, Maddy's hand slipped off the gun and it went off. It is believed that she often visits the back stairs of the main house.
There are reports of ghostly cowboys driving through the huts to the cabin. Unnamed and unknown graves were discovered using dowsing boats. There is a story about a homeless man who settled in the attic without the help of the owners. He was a violent drunk, and when they tried to evict him, a fight broke out. Unfortunately, he died after falling down the stairs during the fight. It is well known that electronic equipment in this attic is rapidly discharged for no apparent reason.
