A message from Trandin S.K. about the observation of an unusual phenomenon in the village of Ivanogorod in the Davlekanovsky district of the Bashkir ASSR.

In mid-September 1975 (it is impossible to establish a more precise date now) I happened to observe an unusual phenomenon in the atmosphere. At that time, I was with a group of students engaged in agricultural work at the Collective Farm "Ural" in the Davlekanovsky district of the Bashkir ASSR, located in the village of Ivangorod, about 20 km north of Davlekanovo.

It was a warm, windless evening. The sky was covered with light clouds, the moon and stars were not visible. I was in the room, the clock showed about 21-00 local time. Suddenly, a group of guys ran into the room and excitedly called me outside to look at a noticed or strange phenomenon. I followed them and saw the following picture. In the south-south (almost to the west), at an angle of 35-40 degrees above the horizon, a perfectly shaped semicircle with clear contours, the color of the lunar disk, only paler, hung motionless. The glow is uniform and uniform over the entire surface. The apparent dimensions were about one and a half times the diameter of the moon at the zenith. The luminous figure was subjectively perceived as a kind of gaseous and flat formation.

The phenomenon continued for about 2.5 minutes after its fixation. the semicircle began to expand, noticeably by eye (most likely this process was already underway when the phenomenon was discovered), and the proportions of the figure were preserved. The brightness of the glow gradually decreased, and the contours began to "blur". The coordinates of the glow in the sky practically did not change, maybe (I can not guarantee the accuracy) it has risen somewhat. having reached the size of about 15 times the diameter of the moon, the glow disappeared, leaving no traces.

The phenomenon proceeded in complete silence. The planes were not flying at the moment. none of the eyewitnesses (and there were quite a few of them) experienced unpleasant emotions. impacts. then, when analyzing the phenomenon, I believed that there were effects associated with the launch of a rocket. Later, in one of the issues of the magazine "Technika - Molodezhi" for 1977 or 1978, an article was published concerning this phenomenon, which was observed over a large area.
