Initial data
Time : June 21, 1978, 3-00 a.m.
Place: The plain adjacent to the northern shore of Lake U-Vav-Nur
Observation conditions: moonlit night, dawn is barely visible in the east, group observation.
Phenomenon: The observer was in the company of 4 people riding in a gazette: suddenly they saw "something" in front that resembled the moon on a frosty night, but the real doona was behind. The observers jumped out of the car and together recognized in the phenomenon what another participant of the expedition (Avanitsky) had observed a month earlier, although not everything looked exactly as he told.
It appeared in the north and represented a bright dot, from which spiral-shaped appendages, similar to misty swirls, radiated. Further along the radius there was an annular foggy condensation (see figure). All together, it had the angular dimensions of a moon with a halo on a frosty night. It approached for a while, and then seemed to stop.
After standing for about a minute, it began to accelerate eastward, quickly gaining speed, and after 1.5 - 2 minutes completely disappeared in plain sight. The stars were not visible through this itself. The observation lasted exactly 8 minutes. At the time of the stop, the angle above the horizon was around 25°. Before the start of the observation, a car with its headlights on made a chaotic movement across the plain (chase).
After the stop, the headlights were signaled.
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
