V.T. Pakhomov writes to the Commission on AI.:
A former Belykh sailor, who sailed on the Kruzenshtern sailboat, which also had a diesel engine, studies at the machinists' school in Riga.
The exact date has already been erased from the sailor's memory: It was in late November-early December 1978. The emergency happened in the Baltic Sea on a busy highway where there are many ships.
It was at night that a light ball appeared over the Kruzenshtern. At the same time, the diesels on the ship stalled and the lights went out (the ship was sailing without sails on the screws), the ship plunged into darkness, and it was very dangerous on the shipping route. The mechanics rushed to start the diesel engine, but the launch failed. Finally, the glowing ball moved away, after which the diesels were able to start. The whole team was up at night.
This emergency is certainly noted in the logbook and the whole team is private owners of this emergency, you can always check the truth of the incident. Moreover, the whole team survived the fear of a possible collision on the high seas.
