On April 11, 1982, I worked the night shift on the platform of Pulkovo airport. At about 4.25 (there were still stars in the sky, the weather was quiet), I saw at an angle of 30-35 ° to the horizon a bright luminous point of distinguishable size and with a fairly clear contour, the color of arc welding. Its apparent dimensions were approximately 1/13 + 1/15 of the diameter of the lunar disk at the zenith. The object appeared from the direction of the city (if I got my bearings correctly - from the north), and was moving in an ascending, strictly rectilinear trajectory in the direction of the south, almost directly at me.

Immediately after the luminous point, a plume began to form in the form of a milky-white triangle, which looked like the contrail of an airplane, only more dense and homogeneous, which also did not disperse. But as the point rose higher and higher, the size of the triangle increased proportionally, and the base remained stationary relative to the horizon (and parallel to it, only gradually lengthening), and the triangle itself constantly had the shape of an isosceles.

After 2-3 minutes, the flying dot almost went out for a few moments, merging with the background of the triangle, and then it flashed brightly again and a similar process of formation of the second triangle was repeated according to the same pattern. The sky was a system of two triangles of approximately equal area, resembling a "herringbone" pattern. At the moment of formation of the upper triangle, the base of the lower one began to blur, it faded, and became 1.5 times paler.

As soon as the light point (the brightness of which and the visible dimensions practically did not change, and the intensity of the glow was estimated as average) froze motionlessly in the sky, a fairly wide vertical stripe of bright and juicy blue-green color with sharply defined edges quickly "appeared" on the white background of the lower triangle. It ran from the top of the triangle to its base, slightly widening at the bottom. The intensity of the strip's glow stabilized after the "manifestation".

It took about 5 minutes from the start of the observation to this phase of the phenomenon. And then the deformation of the frame of the slender geometric system of triangles began, which occurred very smoothly, but noticeably to the eyes. Eventually, a shapeless multicolored spot formed in the sky, Xia did not notice any displacement of it in space, as well as the "Christmas trees"), in which white, yellow, blue-green and bright red colors were consistently viewed from top to bottom in horizontal stripes. The transitions from one color to another occurred gradually, as in the lines of the spectrum. The luminous point object continued to hang motionless at the point in space where its movement had stopped.

The object was perceived as a flat disk, I did not feel its volume due to its relatively strong brightness.

And the clock was already showing around 5.45 and, apparently, the spot was colored in different colors as a result of illumination by the sun that had not yet risen. After 5.45. (more precisely, I did not fix the time), the point object went out, the sun either had already risen or was about to appear from behind the horizon, and the colorful spot faded so much that it was practically impossible to see anything.

That was the end of the observation. It took place with periodic pauses, because the work required it.

The phenomenon was completely silent and, as it seemed to me, at a very high altitude. I did not notice any physical effects on the environment. I felt normal, no anxiety, especially fear. The airport was functioning normally.

At 4.50 a.m., the next flight took off without delay. I told my immediate supervisor about what I saw, we did not write any reports on this matter. He was attentive to my message. I have not come to any definite conclusions about this impression and colorful phenomenon.
