Initial data
ANATOLY VIKTOROVICH SHISHKIN is a NIHTI engineer.
In 1976, at the end of August at 1-2 o'clock, at night, the Tajik SSR village. Tabanars of Leninobadsky district (in the foothills). Going outside to the smoking area, I saw on the horizon a semicircle (half disk) about the size of the Moon, cut off by the silhouette of mountains, glowing milky white all over the surface, in the northwest. The edges are clear, the details are on
the half-disc was not noticeable. The brightness is at the level of the moon. The sky was starry.
Gradually, the diameter increased, the center remained in place, and the brightness gradually decreased. In about 30 minutes. It took up half of the sky at almost 180 degrees, with brightness at the level of the Milky Way. The edge was clear all the time. The glow is uniform throughout the disk. The color is white all the time. The mountains covering the disk are about 0.5-3 km away.
The three of us watched. One of the observers, a local employee, said that he had seen a similar phenomenon twice, but in other directions (he saw it from a village 15 km away, also at night). There was no moon (new moon).
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
