Initial data
He writes to the commission on the Vladimir V. Sorokin, artist:
On September 9, 1980, at 21 o'clock, an arc was seen. It was in the east, with an angle of 30°, the sky was starry, separate clouds. The glow of the arc was brighter than the clouds - the latter were slightly whitish. The arc is of the correct shape, unlike the trace of an airplane, of course.
It also moved east to west towards the city. As we moved forward, the object grew larger. The clouds were moving from south to north. When the object reached the city, it occupied the entire sky, but the luminosity was already very dim.
The movement is very slow. From the first "phase" to the last, it took about half an hour for him to transform.
Maybe it was something atmospheric, or maybe it was a UFO of this kind.
Just in case, I'm writing about what I saw. Maybe where was this registered?
At the zenith, the object spread out from horizon to horizon, the stars shone through it. The clouds were such that the stars did not shine through them.
There was a certain solidity to this object. The brightest part is the front.
The surveillance was conducted from a television studio on Gorky Street.
The intensity fluctuated slightly.
Hypotheses
Booster, the rocket and tracks
For UFOs often take stages of rockets, parts of space ships burning in the atmosphere, the launches of various missile technology for military purposes, etc., and traces from them. They attract attention mostly in the dark, but in the day time have a greater aura of mystery.
Formation of the track of the launch vehicle occurs in the tropopause (the layer between the troposphere and stratosphere), which sharply reduced the vertical temperature gradient. The emergence of the so-called "jellyfish" influenced by water vapor, which are subject to enhanced condensation.
