On the night of June 14-15, 1980, a large number of eyewitnesses observed an interesting formation moving in the lower layers of the atmosphere (no higher than 5 km). The formation consisted of a head part, a middle part and a tail.

The head part was observed as a disc-shaped body with a diameter ratio of 5:2, 3:1.5. The body is transparent, smoky with rays emanating from the head part, having a length 2-3 times greater than the middle part of the formation.

It was observed in Krasnogorsk, Moscow region. The formation moved from the northwest and, having reached 35 degrees above the horizon (observed from a height of 7 floors), turned in an easterly direction. The formation left behind a curving, powerful luminous trail that dissolved after 50-70 minutes.

It was observed in Moscow in the area of VDNH (Ostankino). The formation moved from west to east evenly at a speed or slightly higher than the speed of an airplane (passenger, jet). The head part is a brightly glowing ball the color of our copper coins and the size of 1/4 of the Moon's disk. The middle part had a light gray glow. two beams coming out of the head bordered the middle part and converged at the tail. The tail part was 2-3 times longer than the middle part; it had a bluish color with red smoky veins. The formation left nothing behind.
