Initial data
1972, February 12, 18-30, approx. 15 minutes. United Kingdom, Lancashire, Haydock
Lorraine T., 13, and 2 of her friends, Mrs. C., 31.
While 200 yards from Lorraine T.'s house, the witnesses heard a sound similar to the sound of a siren on an American police car. Looking back, they saw a bright round object in the sky. It was at a height of about 20 c from the ground, and had a diameter of about 2 m. the sound slowly increased, reached such a level that the girls, frightened, ran to Lorraine's house. The object followed them, which scared them even more, but when the girls reached the house, it changed direction and the sound stopped. Looking out of the house a few minutes later, the girls saw that the object was silently hovering a few houses away from them. They noticed a "red light" that passed over the UFO and disappeared over the neighboring roof. then the white object began to pulse and the sound resumed. deciding to call the police, the girls called by phone, but the police, believing that this was a hoax, refused to come. then the girls returned to watching, just in time to see the UFO move away and suddenly disappear (similar to the disappearance of a television image). The sound also stopped.
Mrs. S., hearing the noise for the first time, decided that the children playing in the yard were the culprits. She looked out of the window, but saw nothing unusual. At that time, the noise stopped, and Mrs. S. returned to her business. Suddenly, the sound, which had become much louder, resumed, and she decided to go out into the yard to drive away the "hooligans" with the help of a dog. The dog, however, frightened of something, huddled in a corner.
Mrs. S., surprised by this, came out of the house and saw a large blue ball surrounded by a white glow pulsating in time with the sound.
The balloon was about 6 m above the nearest garage. The witness went to the neighbor's door to show him the object, but at that moment the object and the noise ceased to exist. According to a neighbor, he nevertheless heard a sound before that "unlike anything he knows." Mrs. S. She described, in turn, the sound from the UFO as resembling the rasp of a fork on a plate.
A strange detail: one of Mrs. S.'s neighbors, hearing the noise for the second time, left the house, got into a car and drove around the house to find the source of the sound. Although he should have been closer to the object than Mrs. S., he did not notice it. he explains this by not looking up.
