Initial data
Valery Vasilyevich Moldovsky (mechanic) tells us.
In the summer of 1976, at about 22 o'clock, from the balcony of my apartment, together with Anatoly Fedotov, I observed a very fast-flying, highly luminous oval object. He was flying in a near-latitude direction from west to east towards Mount Beshtau. It seemed to us that the object immediately fell behind the mountain and an explosion should follow, but nothing happened. It glowed like a highly incandescent body and the light was so bright that it seemed like the slopes of Mount Beshtau lit up when he flew over the top. The flight altitude probably did not exceed 1 km (the height of Beshtau 1400 m) of the terrain - 400-500 m above the sea level. The duration of the observation is no more than 10-15 seconds, during which time he flew 12-15 km (speed about 3600 km / h).
