"The Fatal Invention" (orig. Den Skæbnesvangre opfindelse is a 1910 silent horror short film directed by August Blom.
The film's screenplay is based on Robert Louis Stevenson's novel The Strange Story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and is more faithful to the plot of the original than the theatrical production of the same years.
Unfortunately, the film is considered lost, only photos from the shooting have survived to this day.
Dr. Henry Jekyll, experimenting with scientific means to reveal the dark side of man, accidentally frees the killer inside himself.

Dr. Jekyll creates an elixir that releases his dark essence. By adopting it, he not only behaves like a vicious and aggressive animal, but also outwardly turns into a monkey-like, hair-covered monster.
