The Mummy

Movie|1932

An ancient Egyptian priest named Imhotep is revived when an archaeological expedition finds his mummy and one of the archaeologists accidentally reads an ancient life-giving spell. Imhotep escapes from the field site and searches for the reincarnation of the soul of his lover.

The action of the film begins in Ancient Egypt, when Prince Haris tried to bring back to life his beloved, the deceased princess Ananka, stealing for this purpose a sacred herb from the temple of the Egyptian gods. He failed to do this – he was caught and severely punished for blasphemy. Haris ' tongue was torn out, and he was buried alive, making him the eternal guard of Ananka's grave hidden in the rocks.

Then the action of the film is transferred to the XX century, when archaeologists learn about the mysterious tomb of Ananka. Stephen Bunning and Babe Jenson have irrefutable evidence of the existence of the tomb, but there is no money to conduct excavations. Professor Andoheb, who works at the Cairo Museum, and is also the heir of the ancient Egyptian priests, will also learn about the archaeologists ' find.

Tomb seekers find an ancient vase in the Cairo bazaar, the drawing on which is a map to the tomb of Ananka. The magician Solvani joins the expedition together with his daughter Marta, who finances this event. Scientists manage to find a tomb, but it is not the princess who is buried there, but the mummified Haris. Suddenly, Andoheb appears at the excavation site, who revives the mummy, after which Haris kills one of the participants of the expedition. Then he comes to the camp, causes a pogrom there and kidnaps Martha. The girl finds herself in a temple, where Andoheb is going to perform a ritual that should give him and Martha immortality.

Babe manages to kill Andoheb, but after the priest's death, Haris gets out of control. Scientists manage to destroy the stocks of the potion that revives the mummy, and burn Haris himself.

In the final scene, the researchers receive a telegram about the appointment of Bunning as director of the archaeological museum in the United States.

Phenomena in artwork: Witchcraft

The high priest of the god Ra explains the mission of his receiver, showing him scenes from the distant past "in the waters of Kara" - a container with a bubbling liquid, over which steam swirls.

Witchcraft can also be attributed to the use of the leaves of the long-extinct Tana plant to maintain life in the human body for thousands of years.

Phenomena in artwork: Zombies

The priests of the Egyptian god Ra use the leaves of the long-extinct plant Tana to maintain life in the body of a person convicted of sacrilege. Three thousand years ago, they buried him in a sarcophagus wrapped in bandages, like a mummy.

Every full moon, the high priest of Ra should pour a decoction of three leaves of Tana into his mouth – this will make the mummy's heart beat for the next month. In order for the mummy to be able to move and attack people, a decoction of nine leaves is required. If the amount of decoction consumed by the mummy is too small, then his body functions only partially (for example, only one hand moves).

If you use more than nine leaves, the mummy will " turn into a soulless demon who wants to kill."

Pistol shots do not cause serious damage to the mummy. It is possible to kill him only with the help of fire.
