The 4-year-old dog Buster was born and spent half his life black, and then began to turn white. His owner M. Smith began posting pictures of the pet on the social network Reddit when he had the first whitish spots, and two years later he shared a photo in which the dog was completely white.
Many could not believe that this was the same animal, but Smith confirmed this with photographs depicting the gradual transformation of his pet (scroll through the photo gallery below).
According to the man, at the end of 2021, he first saw tiny whitish spots around the pet's eyes, nose and chin: then veterinarians discovered Buster had vitiligo.
This is a chronic disease in which the production of melanin is disrupted, which is why the disappearance of natural color in certain areas of the body is noted. Despite the fact that people are more likely to encounter this disease, it also occurs in animals.
As Smith noted, 9 months after the diagnosis, specks covered the entire face of his pet. Then they spread through the body. Veterinarians assured that the disease does not threaten the dog's health, and advised only to monitor possible irritation on the skin.
