On the evening of St. Hans, many people came out to celebrate and complement the bonfire with singing, unity and good company all over Denmark. Nevertheless, for many residents of Copenhagen, this evening may become unusual, not only because of the beautiful flame of the bonfire, but also because of the unusual spectacle.
A very large circular formation appeared in the sky, moved faster than clouds, then disappeared as suddenly as it appeared.
Was it a UFO? Was this the strangest formation of a bird flock? Or is it a giant ring of smoke, which in this case could have been thrown out of the world's largest mouth?
Mads Heby from Illutron, which is rather not an event management company, but a "collective of artists" clarified that they were behind the big ring of smoke. In fact, there was more than one, he tells videnskab.dk and adds:
"It was connected with the St. Hans meeting in Teglholmen last Sunday, when we traditionally use the opportunity to fire one of our gas cannons. To the delight of the locals, we invite them down and sing songs about the summer solstice with us.
The peculiarity this time was that the gas cannon created unusually beautiful smoke rings. The wind conditions for such a spectacle must have been ideal."
