Yosemite National Park is one of the most impressive attractions in California. Every year, for just a few days in February, photographers flock to the small Horsetail Waterfall to watch the water cascade down the cliff at sunset.
This small waterfall with a height of 650 m is not in any comparison with the iconic Yosemite waterfall with a height of 739 m. However, when the waterfall is full and the light from the setting sun falls at a certain angle, an impressive phenomenon can occur, which is called a fiery waterfall. It can be observed during sunset.
The fiery waterfall can only be seen in mid-late February, when the light of the setting sun illuminates the rock in the right place, then it seems that the waterfall glows orange, yellow or red, as if fire is flowing along the rock.
The weather conditions should be perfect for observing this phenomenon, which lasts only a few minutes — the sky should be clear. Even a small haze or cloud cover can significantly reduce the effect. This year, the conditions for observations are good, but there were few visitors — due to the limitations of the pandemic. But those who were in the park during the period of February 20-24, were delighted with this fiery scene.
