The used stage of the Changzheng-5B (the launch vehicle that had previously launched the Celestial orbiter into space) returned to the atmospheric layers and crashed into the Indian Ocean. At the same time, it was almost completely burned during the fall.

The remaining fragments reached the surface of the water about 72.47 degrees WD, 2.65 degrees SW.

Confirming the successful withdrawal of the Chinese module and the return of parts of the launch vehicle, representatives of the American space forces command notified that the fall of the second stage took place north of the Maldives on May 8 (about five in the morning Moscow time).
