In Indonesia, lightning struck an umbrella held by a man

This is an incredible moment caught on video when an umbrella held by a security guard turned into a ball of flames and sparks after being struck by lightning.

The umbrella was struck by lightning, causing the person holding it to fall.

The footage of the incident was filmed at a warehouse in the village of Sukapura in Chilinching, North Jakarta. The footage shows a security guard walking through an open courtyard with an umbrella when he was struck by lightning. A stream of sparks fills the air, and the man falls to the ground, barely moving. Colleagues soon rush to his aid, as he lies on the floor almost motionless.

The victim, Abdul Rosid, 35, was patrolling the depot with a radio transmitter and an umbrella when lightning struck him in an open courtyard. He was taken to the nearest hospital for treatment and miraculously survived. Incredibly, Mr. Rosid only suffered burns to his hands and was discharged from the hospital after four days of treatment.

Iptu police spokesman Alex Chandra confirmed the incident and said the guard was treated at the Port Medical Center in North Jakarta. He said that at the time of the lightning strike, Mr. Rosid was holding a walkie-talkie.

The spokesman also confirmed that Mr. Rosid was released home from the hospital four days later.
