On Wednesday, September 15, at 8:02 pm ET, 00:02 UTC on September 16, SpaceX's Falcon 9 successfully launched the Inspiration4 mission – the world's first civilian human space flight into orbit. The takeoff took place from the historic launch complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
About three days after takeoff, Dragon and the Inspiration 4 crew will land at one of several possible landing sites off the coast of Florida. The Inspiration4 crew orbits the Earth, and it can be seen approximately every 90 minutes.
The ship is commanded by Jared Isaacman, founder and CEO of Shift 4 Payments, an experienced pilot and adventurer. It is joined by: Medical Officer Hayley Arsenault, a physician assistant at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital; mission specialist Chris Sembrosky, an Air Force veteran and aerospace data engineer; and mission pilot Dr. Sian Proctor, a geologist, entrepreneur and trained pilot.
