An unusual phenomenon was observed in the sky over Alaska — a mysterious spiral that appeared during the northern lights. Researcher and photographer Todd Salat captured this phenomenon against the backdrop of Donnelly Dome, an ancient glacier formed more than 100,000 years ago.
At first, the photographer thought it was the light of a passing plane, but the spiral began to grow and increase. After a few minutes, the bright glow of the northern lights disappeared, and with it the mysterious spiral.
This strange spiral cloud was probably formed as a result of the launch of the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. A few hours earlier, a rocket flew into the sky over the USA in California, and the burnt-out upper stage flew over Alaska, dumping unused fuel. As a result of the rotation of the rocket stage, the cloud turned into a spiral, which was visible in the night sky.
