Photographer Paul Schmidt captured the surreal spring landscape with views of the valley of the Rio Grande in the U.S. state of new Mexico. The picture was taken in the wee hours, and covers the period between 4:30 and 7:00.
Before sunrise and just after sunset in natural light is dominated by blue, Indigo and violet shades. That time photographers call "blue hour".
The milky Way is visible on the right in the South before the morning twilight. In the East the Sun rises above the peaks of the Sangre de Cristo. To adjust the brightness changes, was applied in a series of short and long exposures.
Intermediate exposure was obtained during the "blue hour" to create a harmonious combination of night sky and solar rise.
The duration of this photographic period of the day depends on the time of year and coordinates of the area. In addition to the "blue hour" there is a "Golden hour" when you can get the frames in warm colors.
