River in Kemerovo turned red due to pollution

The Iskitimka river in Kemerovo turned red — its waters turned red due to a blockage of the stormwater collector.

According to the Deputy head of Kuzbass Andrey Panov, the right tributary of the river, the Sukhovsky stream, got red sewage. The discharge occurred from a clogged collector or from a city storm drain.

Currently, the emergency service has eliminated the blockage, the police are searching for those responsible, and all information has been passed to the CPS.

Earlier, residents of Kemerovo drew attention to the pollution and the strange red hue of the water — pictures of the river appeared in social networks. They also expressed concern that the incident could endanger duck families.
