The remains of a huge sea creature have been discovered in the coastal waters of California. This is reported by The Sacramento Bee.
The skull, about two meters long, was found on a beach located 145 kilometers from the city of San Francisco. The photos were posted on social networks by the local museum.
Robert Bossenecker, a leading paleontologist at the Charleston Paleontological Center, suggested that the bone found belonged to a blue whale or fin whale.
Fin whales can reach lengths of up to 25 meters and weigh about 80 tons, while blue whales can be up to 33 meters long and weigh up to 165 tons.
