In the United States, the prototype of the Starship SN15 spacecraft was successfully flown — it ended with a regular landing on the flight pad.
The prototype SN15 was launched from the spaceport near Boca Chica in Texas, it gained an altitude of 10 km. After that, one of the three engines was turned off, the prototype began to descend in a horizontal position. In the future, the engines turned on, the rocket again took a vertical position and landed in the designated place. A video of the landing was posted SpaceX.
Elon Musk noted that the landing was normal. He added that the first test flight of the spacecraft into low-Earth orbit will take place this year. According to the plans, it is Starship that will have to deliver the first astronauts to the Red Planet, it is designed for 100 people.
It is worth noting that the three previous tests of the spacecraft prototypes passed with explosions-SN11, SN10 and SN9.
