What kind of "mittens" appeared on trees in St. Petersburg?

Residents of the Northern Capital recently noticed unusual formations on several trees, resembling something between a beehive and a woolen glove. According to ornithologist Pavel Glazkov, we are talking about the so-called "nests-mittens" created by remez, the St. Petersburg TV channel reports.

Remez ordinary-a small singing feathered creature. It is included in the regional Red Book. When creating their homes, the Remez use not only twigs, grass and reeds, but also down.

As soon as the construction is completed, the male begins ritual chants next to the nest, inviting the future bride to him. Remez's singing is melodious and clearly heard from a distance, although some find it somewhat sad notes.

Attracted by the beautiful singing and the new house, the female then does not spend much time with the male. Their union continues until she lays her eggs.
