According to the candidate of Ph.D. T. Loseva, seismic incidents are preceded by a number of electromagnetic and visual manifestations such as radiance, flickering, flashes of green and bluish hue, changes in the magnetic field, etc., reports MK.
However, the fact of the glow itself is not yet considered an accurate indicator that a natural cataclysm will really happen. Accordingly, it is impossible to predict the place and time of an earthquake using it.
Today, science still continues to develop accurate and effective methods and tools for predicting such events, and no technique yet guarantees a one hundred percent result.
The blue glow observed in Turkey was attributed by local authorities to the fact that energy was released from the fault in this way. During earthquakes, the lithosphere undergoes shifts and deformations, and this contributes to the accumulation of energy in the atmospheric layers and its further release in the form of the described phenomenon.
IDG RAS modeled a similar glow based on a phenomenon recorded in 1995 in Japan. The characteristics of both that phenomenon and the recent one in Turkey turned out to be very similar.
