Initial data
Late in the evening of August 18, 1783, four people, standing on the terrace of Windsor castle, watching flying in the sky glowing object could be a UFO.
This drawing was done on the orders of Thomas Sandby, the founder of the British Royal Academy of Sciences, brother Floor, who were eyewitnesses of this event.
The report that appeared in the scientific journal "Philosophical transactions of the Royal society" in 1784, was as follows:
"An oblong cloud moving almost parallel to the horizon. In this cloud could be seen an object similar to a bright glowing Orb, which suddenly stopped. From the first glance it seemed that this strange field had a pale blue color, but then its brightness has increased. Soon she again headed East. Then the object changed direction, moving parallel to the horizon, headed South-East and disappeared. It was so bright that it lit up everything on earth."
According to the records of the scientific archive of the United Kingdom, the figure shows "a meteor flown on 18 August 1783". Later Thomas Sandby on watercolours made his brother the Floor, did the engraving.
It is believed that a very bright falling star, which is called a bolide, from the terrace of the Royal Palace of Windsor castle was watched by king George III.
A blindingly bright meteor which broke up into several parts, was visible throughout England. Since many believe that it was not a simple meteorite.
