Last night Dan Bush saw something similar right from your yard in Albany, Missouri.
"Around the moon formed the unique aura. It looks like two superimposed on top of each other halo, slightly offset like a spiral," says the photographer.
Indeed, it is. Ice crystals floating in Cirrus clouds over Albany, caught the rays of the bright moonlight, refracting them into two concentric shapes: round 22-degree halo and oval full halo.
A lunar halo of the first type are more prevalent in the cold autumn night than the second. In this case, Bush witnessed a rare combination.
