In India, a resident of the city of Pune (Maharashtra state) constantly felt threatened by a lot of tiny people because of his rare disease. This is reported by the News 18 TV channel.
As it turned out, the 63-year-old Indian suffers from a rare neuropsychological disease-Alice in Wonderland syndrome.
One of its symptoms is a distortion of visual perception. So, people and objects may seem smaller to the patient than they really are.
The man periodically felt that he was being attacked by hundreds of men the size of a finger. At first, the Indian's family ignored this fact, which is why he did not immediately start receiving medical care. After a few months of treatment, the man's health condition significantly improved.
"I was attacked by about 200 people. They were very small. My relatives say that I shouted loudly at them. I'm retired, and I stay at home all the time. At least twice a day, I had the idea that I was being attacked by little men, " the Indian recalls.
He noted that now he can sleep peacefully, and he no longer has such thoughts.
Neuropsychiatrist Dharmendra Kendre, who treated the patient, explained that this is an extremely rare disease that occurs in one person in a million. The disorder can occur due to drug use, as well as a metabolic or electrolyte imbalance. In the case of an Indian, hallucinations could appear due to post-traumatic stress. According to Kendre, in older people, post-traumatic stress or even prolonged insomnia can cause hallucinations characteristic of this syndrome.
Earlier it was reported about an 11-year-old resident of Indian New Delhi, who suffers from a rare disease, as a result of which the child cries blood every day. The girl does not experience pain at the same time.
