A cow was killed on the spot by a lightning strike on a family farm in central Alabama.
The family was finishing a meeting on Sunday, May 15, during which it rained with a thunderstorm, according to a statement from Autauga Farming Company Inc. posted on its Facebook page.
At that moment, a thunderclap rang out, and a relative "raised his head just in time to see one of our cows fall into the pasture," they said.
None of the other animals were injured. According to the farm, the blow was struck a hundred meters from the porch of the family.
"We have never had such a close encounter with the power of nature," the family wrote. "Today we received a vivid and visual demonstration of why it is not worth going outside if there may be lightning nearby."
