Farmers have lost 28 cattle due to a lightning strike, which is a "rare case" in the southwestern Canadian province of Saskatchewan.
The family of farmers who owned the cattle were heartbroken and described the tragedy as the "most horrific" they had ever seen on their farm.
"It was on Friday evening when there was a thunderstorm with very strong lightning. The lightning definitely hit the fence," Mr. Briere said.
Along the fence in their pasture lay dead 14 cows, 13 calves and one bull.
Mr. Briere and his wife were out of town when lightning killed the cattle. His brother-in-law checked the condition of the cows on Sunday when he found them dead.
Local media reported that the family is now suffering financial losses due to the death of cattle, in addition to emotional experiences.
