"Nature", 1883, T. 27, p. 423. Translated from English by A.V. Arkhipov.:

"On February 5, at 6:45 p.m., a meteor of unusual appearance and size was observed near Arvik (in Sweden).

An observer crossing Lake Glasfjorden at this time notes that

I noticed it high above the horizon, moving from southeast to northwest, until 18 seconds later the meteor suddenly changed its course

to the southeast.

During its movement to the northwest for 18 seconds, the meteor deviated from its path several times, while its size changed from an ordinary star to the sun, sometimes emitting white and sometimes yellow light and at times scattering sparks.

The meteor was reflected in the lake at the point of change of direction, it had a distinct tail, and with this appendage it left the field of view in a northeasterly direction after 50 seconds of observations. "
