The personification of Frost as a natural element is celebrated in East Slavic mythology. He was depicted as a bald grandfather of small stature, with a long gray beard. He walks, according to legend, barefoot, without a hat, in a white jacket. In his hand is an iron mace.
His breathing is very cold. His tears are icicles. Frost — frozen words. And the hair is snow clouds. In winter, he runs through fields, forests, streets and knocks with his mace (staff). From this knock, cracking frosts bind rivers, streams, puddles with ice. And if he hits the corner of the hut with a staff (mace), the log will certainly crack.
E. E. Levkievskaya believes that Zyuzya, as an independent character, is an invention of cabinet mythology, which was unknown to pagans.
