Initial data
About 150 people were hospitalized after staying at Birling Gap Beach in the UK. People began to be evacuated after massive complaints of shortness of breath, burning in the eyes and vomiting, which began to be observed after the unexpected "fog".
Eyewitnesses reported a strong smell of chlorine in the air, which appeared out of nowhere. People were running from the beach to escape. Currently, 150 people are in hospital, although their health condition is considered stable. People living along the coast have been instructed to seal windows and doors, but this recommendation has now been lifted.
"The beach will be open as usual," the local police said on Monday – "Such a situation should not happen again.”
The cause of the toxic fog has not yet been determined.
Hypotheses
