Аббиате-Гуаз-зона VA
Italy

24 APR 1950 in a place called Abbiate Guaz-zone (Varese region, which is located just East of lake Maggiore in Northern Italy), a 42-year-old worker Bruno Facchini was the protagonist of a truly overwhelming experience, which at that time was widely spread in the Italian press and in the "Rivista Aeronautica" (Aeronautical Review).

Facchini, capable and very well-respected employee who worked at that time in a local firm, lived in a small house on the outskirts of the village. He left home when he saw the flash (he went to find out what it was). He saw a huge black shadow, almost circular, "like the flattened top of the ball." In the middle of the balloon was a small staircase from the top of which was a faint greenish light, and now he could see near the source of the outbreak. A man dressed in a "diver suit" and a mask (it seemed that some welds). The hull of the ship, illuminated by the light from the welding gave off a metallic reflection. Two other people are about 1 meters 70, is also "diving suits" , very slowly moved the ship as if they interfered with the costumes that they wore. The faces they wore masks of the same dark color as the "diving suits", which ends at the mouth of the tube with a small hole at the end.

Facchini's first thought was that it was a military aircraft (military airfields Vergiate and Venegono was just a few kilometers away), and he went up and asked if he could do something to help. The answer was some incomprehensible guttural sounds. Meanwhile, inside the building, he saw the second staircase, and around on the walls of some pipes, cylinders and datchiki. At the same time, he noticed a noise "like the sound of a giant beehive" .

At this point, Bruno Facchini realized that it was not a plane. Panic-stricken, he decided to escape.

Turning, he ran back and saw that one of the crew members pointed at him with a kind of "photographic apparatus" and shot him with a beam of light. Bruno felt as if he was hit with a powerful jet of compressed air, and it made him fall to explore the earth. The bruises ached, but Facchini was conscious. He saw, as the Elevator descended, bringing down on it the person with welding equipment, and then decreased in size until it (the Elevator) did not become a kind of little box. The ladder was now drawn, and the door closed. Then a drone that Facchini heard in the beginning, became louder. The object flew away.

The next day, Facchini reported it to the police station in Milan, and the authorities have launched an investigation. On the ground, which was quite hard, were visible four circular imprint with a diameter of about one meter, at a distance of about six meters from each other and located in the square. The grass was burnt or withered, and were found small pieces of metal (probably welding residues). They were of shiny metal with a granulated surface, which in the analysis was defined as "antifriction bronze with high tin content", is very resistant to heat.

To complete the investigation, the journalist Renato Vesco subsequently conducted an analysis of several metal fragments of the MT came to the same conclusion.

Original news

Between Tradate and Abbiate at 22:00, 42-year-old Bruno Facchini heard and saw sparks coming from a dark, hovering object, near which a man dressed in tight-fitting clothes and wearing a helmet seemed to be making repairs. Three other 5.9-foot-tall pallid beings, each wearing a diver’s suit and helmet, were seen near the craft. Bruno is hit with a light beam. When the work was finished, a trap through which light had been shining was closed and the thing took off. The witness had the time to note many details of the machine and its occupants. After the UFO departs, it leaves behind traces of a strange frictionless metal in the soil. A physical analysis was made. Physiological effects were noted. Attracted by a flickering light, Bruno Facchini, 40, came upon an oblate spheroid 10 meters wide and 6 meters high, from which a little flight of steps led to the ground. Its surface was chequered by stripes; around it was a circle of pipes in threes. Inside the UFO, Facchini could see pipes, cylinders, and gauges. 3 or 4 men of normal height, in “diving suits,” were seen; one seemed to be welding a pipe; all moved slowly. The suits had “earphones” and transparent faceplates, which seemed to contain liquid; the faces behind the faceplates were pale. Facchini walked up and asked if they needed help; the men gesticulated and replied something like “Grr…Grr…” Realizing they were extraterrestrial, Facchini ran; one of the men pointed a “camera” at him, which emitted a force beam that knocked him down. He lay there terrified and saw the repairman finish his work, the stairs fold up, and the object rise vertically with loud drone and a “chuff.” The next day 4 round marks were found, forming a 6 meter square, as well as several bits of metal, identified on analysis as an “antifriction” leaded bronze. Pains in his back lasted for a month.

----------------------------------------------------

On April 24, 1950, at a place called Abbiate Guaz-zone (Varese region — 45D 49 N., 8° 50 E.), which lies slightly to the east of Lake Maggiore in Northern Italy, the 42-year-old worker Bruno Facchini was the protagonist of a truly mind-boggling experience which, at the time, received widespread treatment both in the Italian regular press and in the "Rivista Aeronautica " (Aeronautical Review).

Facchini, a capable and highly esteemed worker, employed at the time in a local firm, was living in a little house on the outskirts of the village. He had stepped outside from the house [and noticed a flash.] [When he went to investigate], he perceived an enormous black shadow, almost round, "like a ball flattened from above". In the middle of it, there was a small ladder, from the top of which was coming a faint greenish light, and he was now able to see at close hand the source of the flashing. An individual wearing a "diver's suit" and a mask, on top of a sort of pneumatic lift, seemed to be welding something. The hull of the craft, lit by the glow from the welding, gave off metallic reflections. Two other individuals, about 1 m 70 in height, also in "divers' suits", were moving very slowly around the craft, as though hampered by the suits they were wearing. Over their faces, they wore masks of the same dark colour as the "divers' suits", terminating at the level of the mouth in a tube with a little opening at the end.

Facchini's first thought was that it was a military aircraft in difficulty (the military airfields of Vergiate and Venegono were only a few kilometres distant), and he went up and asked if he could be of any help. The response was some incomprehensible guttural sounds. Meanwhile, in the interior of the object, he had caught sight of a second ladder, and all around on the walls, tubes, cylinders, and gauges. At the same time, he noticed a noise "like the sound of a gigantic beehive".

At that point, it was then that Bruno Facchini grasped that he was in the presence of no aeroplane. Seized with panic, he took to his heels.

Turning back as he ran, he saw one of the crew point at him a sort of "photographic apparatus" that he was wearing round his neck, and shoot a beam of light at him. He felt immediately as though he had been struck by a powerful jet of compressed air, and it sent him rolling on the ground. Bruised and aching, but perfectly conscious, Facchini then saw the lift descend, bringing down with it the individual with the welding equipment, and then reduce in size until it (the lift) was a sort of small box. Then the crew put it into the craft. The ladder was now drawn in and the door closed. Then, the hum that Facchini had heard right at the start became louder and, a few instants later, the craft rose and vanished at a fantastic speed into the darkness of the night.

Next day, Facchini reported the matter to the Police Station in Varese, and the Authorities started their investigations at the spot. On the ground, which was quite hard, were visible four round impressions about one metre in diameter and distant about six metres from each other and set in a square. The grass was scorched or withered, and some small fragments of metal were found at the site; probably the remains from the welding. They were of a shiny metal with a granulous surface which, when analyzed, was defined as "an anti-friction metal", very resistant to heat.

With a view to completing the investigative picture, the journalist Renato Vesco subsequently had an analysis made of a few metal fragments from a piece that Facchini had kept...

[The conclusion was that the fragments] are... of a "lead bronze", with a high content of tin...
