Le dimanche 16 novembre 2014, dans l’après-midi, Jeovany Erazo était en compagnie de ses amis en train de pêcher sur l’aire de promenade de Puerto de La Libertad. L’homme prit alors plusieurs photos du paysage environnant. Sur l’une de celles-ci, il remarqua un objet grisâtre dont l’apparence pourrait rappeler celle des soucoupes volantes.

Rapidement, il a diffusé l’image sur son profil Facebook. Elle a alors fait le tour du monde, entraînant une multitude de réactions, certains estimant qu’il s’agit d’un astucieux montage-photo.

Il témoigne :

« Hier, je suis allé pêcher avec un ami, et j’ai profité du moment pour prendre quelques photos du paysage. Quand je les ai regardées, j’ai remarqué cette chose d’étrange. Pouvez-vous m’expliquer de quoi il s’agit. »
