Six minutes after midnight Trin Marit Olsen noticed a bright stationary object in the center of the city in the Northern part of the sky. The figure reminded her of an inverted parachute. This reflection of light can be seen in the fjord Thingvallavatn as a long yellow stripe. She recorded the phenomenon on video.
Other people have also seen strange lights in the night.
Svanhild Micklei saw a bright light within a half hour, 40-fold binoculars. She said that the object was in the shape of an inverted cone.
Sigurd Braquehais also have recorded the same phenomenon, between 01:30 and 02:00.
John Bjordal from Bergen University reached the correct conclusion that these two videos show a stratospheric balloon.
