A number of witnesses claimed to have seen the creature, described as about 3 feet (0.9 m) tall, with a crest on its back, large wings and three fingers.
Among the witnesses were two police officers who were patrolling the area when they saw the creature jump out from under the trees.
Other locals also reported seeing small gray humanoids in silver clothing.
