Initial data
2002 was a record year for the number of "heavenly gifts".
In the small town of Pestovo, Novgorod region, an event of "cosmic" scale took place. It looks like a meteorite turned up under the paw of a one-and-a-half-year-old Chuck, a dog originally from German shepherds.
That morning, his hostess, Nina Mikhailovna Veselova, left her house on Proletarskaya Street and went to get milk. Chuck, as usual, trotted along cheerfully. When suddenly the dog was seriously interested in something: he began to dig snow with his paws, bark loudly, grab something with his teeth. And, it seems, he grabbed it, when he suddenly shook his muzzle and whined plaintively: this "something" turned out to be hot. No matter how much the hostess tried to tear the pet away from an incomprehensible object, he did not want to leave the place. Nina Mikhailovna had to put a strange object, either a stone or a piece of iron, in a bag and take it with her.
At home, Nina Mikhailovna decided to examine the object and was amazed: it looked very strange and for some reason was warm, despite the fact that it was lying in a deep snowdrift. The surface is dotted with cracks, the color scheme is from red brick to black. The shape is irregular, oblong. Flat, the size of a child's palm, an amazing object does not look like the usual cobblestones in these places. Is it a piece of a meteorite, the woman thought? And I remembered what I had read in the newspaper: after all, these "heavenly stones" have great scientific value, collectors are hunting for them, ready to pay a "round" sum for such a rarity ... I was scared and decided to hide the find away from prying eyes. She showed it only to us.
"I'll give it to scientists," says Nina Mikhailovna, wrapping the meteorite in thick paper. - Maybe our Pestovo will soon become famous all over the world?"
But so far, scientists are not going to the regional center, and locals are making fantastic guesses - what if this is a fragment of a UFO flying over the Novgorod region, hello, so to speak, from brothers in mind?

It is expected that scientists will arrive in the Pestovsky district to study the find.
Original news
In the small town of Pestovo, Novgorod Oblast, a "cosmic" event has happened. The day began like any other day.
Early in the morning Nina Mikhailovna Veselova went to get milk. Her 18-month-old dog Chuck romped alongside. Suddenly something drew the dog's attention: He began digging at the snow, barking loudly and grabbing something with his teeth. And suddenly he shook his head and squealed: the "something" was hot! No matter how Nina Mikhailovna tried to pull her pet away from the strange object, he didn't want to leave. She had to put the thing in her bag and take it with her. Some kind of rock or chunk of metal, she thought.
At home Nina Mikhailovna looked at the object and was surprised. It looked very strange and for some reason was warm, although it had been lying in a deep snowdrift. It was full of cracks and the color was hard to describe, something between brick red and black. This surprising object was flat, elongated, and about the size of a child's palm. It looked nothing like the usual stones from the neighborhood. It couldn't be a piece of meteorite, could it? she thought. And then she remembered that she had read in the Labor Newspaper that these "heavenly stones" had a large scientific value, that collectors hunted them and were ready to pay handsome sums… Nina Mikhailovna decided to hide her discovery far from prying eyes. She showed it only to us. "I'll give it to the scientists," she says, wrapping up the "meteorite" in thick paper. "Maybe our Pestovo will soon be famous all around the world?"

Hypotheses
Space debris
By space junk refers to all manmade objects and their fragments in space, which is already faulty, not functioning, and will never be able to serve any useful purpose. Currently in low earth orbits up to altitudes of about 2000 km is, according to various estimates, about 220 thousand (300 thousand according to the UN office for outer space Affairs, October 2009) man-made objects weighing up to 5000 tons.
In the case of UFOs, it is possible to expand this list lost cosmonauts things (tools, etc.).
Investigation
On January 20, 2003, a small sample from Nina Mikhailovna Veselova from Pestovo, Novgorod Region, arrived at the Meteoritics Laboratory of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The analysis showed that this is not a meteorite, but an object of terrestrial industrial origin.
News: What did people notice in the sky over Veliky Novgorod - a meteorite or…
Residents of Veliky Novgorod probably paid attention to yesterday's publication of "53 news", dedicated to the fall from the sky of a strange glowing object.
Let me remind you briefly – according to eyewitnesses, something quickly flew to the ground, and before falling it flashed brightly and disappeared. In the comments, various hypotheses are put forward as to what kind of object could so excite the imagination of people who love everything unusual - from a "shooting star" to a meteorite and even a car.
