The charming story appeared in the pages of the French newspaper Le Quotidien de la Haute-Loire on October 24, 1954.
Czech factory worker Luis Uzhvari went to work in Saint‐Remy‐de‐Provence in the central part of France, when about half past two in the morning he met a man of medium height in a flight suit and with a revolver drawn. At first, the man tried to communicate with the creature in an incomprehensible language, and the Czech offered to switch to Russian.
Then the pilot asked in Russian: "Am I in Spain or in Italy?"
When he was told that this was France, the pilot first asked how far it was from here to Germany, and then what time it was.
—Half past two in the morning," replied Uzhvari.
"You're lying,— the pilot replied. — It's four o'clock in the morning.
After such a strange and meaningless conversation, the pilot headed for his ship, parked on the side of the road. It was shaped like two inverted saucers with a dome on top, from which an antenna protruded. A bright light came on, then the device rose with a high-pitched squeal, similar, according to Uzhvari, to the "sound of a sewing machine," and disappeared into the night.

EPINAL, October 22nd. - The flying saucer case has just been updated with new testimony thanks to a worker from the Vosges, Mr. Louis Uivari. The latter, a former Slovak-born legionnaire, 40 years old, works at an industrial enterprise every morning from 3 a.m.
On Wednesday morning, at about 2:30 a.m., on his way to work, he met a man with a revolver who ordered him to stop in an unknown language.
Ujvari, speaking several languages, suggested Russian and thus was able to strike up a conversation with a man who was obviously trying to identify the place where he was.
The stranger, large, about 1.63 meters tall, was wearing a bright jacket, on the shoulders of which the worker noticed the presence of shiny objects.
When the conversation ended, the man ordered Ujwari to go forward, still at gunpoint.
It was then that the worker saw a mysterious object on the road: the saucer had the shape of two plates placed one on top of the other. Something like a periscope came out of it. The car was about 1.60 meters high and 2.50 meters in diameter.
The worker heard the interlocutor say goodbye to him quite briefly, and continued on his way; he stopped a hundred meters away, and then a vertical headlight pierced the night. The mysterious car headed south, where the worker could follow it with his eyes for about 500 meters.
Ujwari did not dare to tell anyone about his mysterious meeting. Only yesterday he warned the mayor of his commune, and then the gendarmes. An investigation is currently underway.
