A 45-year-old electrician and U.S. Army veteran shared a chilling account of what he thought was an encounter with the elusive bigfoot. The horrific event occurred when Kelly Pillar set up camp with family and friends along an abandoned forest road in Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Washington, on July 17, 2020.
According to the 45-year-old Pillar, who hails from Montana and is an experienced bigfoot hunter and outdoor enthusiast, the "main incident" occurred around 3 a.m. when the group was woken up by "a scream similar to the cry of a yeti." Unfortunately, instead of grabbing a camera and capturing the elusive cryptid, the Montana native reached for his gun.
In an interview with Oregon Live Pillar described the noise as a guttural "brother-tat-tat" sound and immediately felt fear, but could not identify the source of the chilling sound. Although Pillar reached for his shotgun, the rest of the camp, including Mike Palagi, 38, an old army buddy, and his fiancee, who drank a bottle of Pendleton whiskey, were slow to react.
The next night, at the same hour, they were reportedly disturbed by a similar unnerving cawing. This time, sober camp members, including Palagi and his fiancee Olivia Corbin, claimed to have heard a sound and felt heavy footsteps shaking the ground near their tent.
Palagi admitted that he was "scared to hell," adding that the footsteps sounded like the footsteps of a bipedal creature, like a human, despite the chilling screams and moans.
Steeling himself, Pillar and his friend searched the area, but found no trace of the creature. After this experience, the group decided to keep it a secret, sharing it with only a few trusted people, as Pillar was worried that he would be considered crazy. However, the search for answers did not end there.
Deciding to continue the investigation, 31-year-old Tanner Hoskins, a Pillar confidant, created a website called Pacific Northwest Bigfoot Search in August 2020, encouraging the public to report Sasquatch-related encounters. The platform was quickly flooded with more than a hundred messages.
They reported that a sheriff's deputy who was near the scene heard similar sounds, as well as other cases when terrified tourists from Montana saw a "hairy bipedal creature."
