Turning Red

A thirteen-year-old Canadian schoolgirl with Chinese roots turns into a giant red panda every time she gets very nervous. The human form returns to the girl when she calms down. This ability appears unexpectedly after severe emotional stress.

It turns out that this gift is passed on in the family to a girl on the maternal side from the progenitor of the genus, who once asked the gods to turn her into a red panda so that she could protect the children. You can get rid of the ability if you perform a witchcraft ritual during the "Red Moon" (lunar eclipse). If successful, the ability is "locked" in the selected item (medallion, bracelet, comb, etc.), and if this item is damaged, it returns to the owner again. The ritual can be performed an unlimited number of times and at any age – however, the longer a person lives with the ability and the more often he turns into a panda, the stronger it becomes and the more difficult it is to get rid of it.

You can get rid of the ability to turn into a red panda if you perform a witchcraft ritual during the "Red Moon" (lunar eclipse). In this case, the ability (materializing in the form of the "spirit of the red panda") is locked in the selected item – a pendant, bracelet, comb, etc. If the item is damaged, the ability to turn into a panda returns to the owner again.

During the ritual to get rid of the ability to turn into a red panda, the girl (and then, according to the plot, all her relatives) gets into a parallel world in which the spirits of red pandas live, as well as the spirit of the ancestress of their kind.
