Teso Dos Bichos

At an excavation site in the town of Tezo DOS Bijos in South America, Indian diggers of the Secona tribe find an urn containing the remains of a female shaman. The urn is a Shrine to their tribe. The excavation coordinator tells expedition chief Roosevelt that the urn must be left alone, but he insists that the find must be delivered to the United States.

Later, a Jaguar-like creature attacks Roosevelt in a tent and kills him. At the natural history Museum in Boston, a security guard discovers the body of Dr. Horning, one of the expedition members. Mulder, who arrives to investigate the incident, tells Scully that the Indians believe that a great curse will be placed on anyone who disturbs Amara, a female shaman. The agents interrogate the expedition coordinator Bilak, who States that from the very beginning he was against the removal of the urn from the site.

Scully believes that Horning's killer is Bilak, not the mythical Jaguar. In the evening, Lewton is torn apart by an unknown creature while examining the engine of his Jaguar car. Scully finds pieces of dead rats under the hood of Lewton's Jaguar. She believes the rats were attracted to the heat coming from the engine. At this time, student Mona Wustner informs agents that the Museum is attacked by hordes of rats that climb out of the sewer.

When Mulder arrives at the Museum, Mona is no longer there. Scully finds in Bilak's house a vessel with the galucenogenic substance "Yage" and a diary, from the contents of which he concludes that Bilak is behind the curse of Amaru. Mulder finds Bilak in the Museum's women's bathroom; he says Mona is dead, but he doesn't know where the body is. Bilak is locked in a secure room. Agents find the body of Mona's dog, Sugar. The veterinarian performs an autopsy and discovers that the dog ate a cat that had previously eaten a rat poisoned with poison. Mulder believes that the rats are being chased by someone, which is why they appear in large numbers in the Museum.

Bilak disappears from the secure room. Agents suspect that he made his way into the tunnels that run under the Museum. Opening the hatch, Mulder and Scully go into the darkness of the dungeon. They find Dr. Lewton's corpse eaten by feral cats with its eyes eaten out. Mulder saves Scully from being attacked by a rampaging cat, but they are chased by a whole pack and find themselves locked in a room. While hordes of cats are pounding on the door, the agents discover Bilak's corpse in the ventilation pipe.

The pipe is the only way out, and the agents remove the body, freeing their way to escape. Soon, employees of the Department of animal control arrive to clear the Museum of cats, but they have already managed to get lost in the sewers. Mulder is informed that the state Department has decided to return the urn to Amar in Ecuador.
