The Parghelia (about the Sun) is common. Bright bursts of light often appear on both sides of the Sun when the sun's rays shining through the Cirrus clouds. However, on 20 April, Daryl Peterson from anchorage Alaska has witnessed the emergence of unusual about the Sun. According to him, it was volcanic Parghelia.
Peterson explained that out of the place in anchorage where he lives, he can see 3 active volcanoes located near cook's Bay. April 20, he studied the terrain to find good background for a picture of the Northern lights. For the first time in a long time he observed the activity of all three volcanoes. Shortly before sunset Parghelia formed from the pair, which rose above the volcano Spurr. These vaporous emissions was freezing cold Alaskan air, which led to the formation of ice crystals, necessary for the appearance of Parghelia. Peterson noted that this is a rare occurrence seemed even more impressive, thanks to the reflection in the water.
The Parghelia (which translated from Greek means "about the Sun") is a type of halo that occurs because of the refraction of sunlight in ice crystals in the atmosphere. It can be observed in the form of a bright rainbow of reflections at the level of the Sun, there are parseline — a similar phenomenon observed around the moon.
