That's why the auroras are called that, because they are observed in the polar latitudes. Sometimes, with intense disturbances of the Earth's ionosphere, they can be seen in the temperate zone, even less often in the subtropics. But so that the night sky on the Caribbean islands turns red — such an event can be called exceptional.
As evidenced by numerous photo and video materials, on May 10, 2024, the Aurora borealis was observed by residents of the Florida Keys and Puerto Rico.
According to the Astronomical Community of the Caribbean, the last recorded aurora was observed in Puerto Rico in 1921.
