On the beaches of the resort town of Mar del Plata, located in the southwestern part of the Argentine province of Buenos Aires, on April 25, many large white balls similar to pearls were seen, AccuWeather reports.
The mysterious balls turned out to be the embryos of the carnivorous snail Adelomelon brasiliana, which lives off the coast of Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. Adult snails grow up to 20 cm in length and live up to 20 years.
From time to time, these balls appear on the coast, but the locals have not seen such a number before. Some of the balloons had burst and fallen off, and the empty shells were rolling across the beach in the breeze.
Light sea spheres are structurally similar to eggs, filled with liquid and air bubbles. Snails live in the sea at a depth of, the tide and wind brought them to the coast.
