Mother of pearl clouds — a relatively rare phenomenon in which clouds are painted in all colors of the spectrum, often pastel, but are very bright. These clouds resemble the colored iridescence of soap bubbles or oil stains on the water.
At the end of last year over the city of östersund in Sweden photographer captures polar stratospheric clouds also known as mother-of-pearl, which are amazing rainbow glow or iridescence. These clouds are formed of small water droplets about the same size. Sunlight deviates from cloud droplets at different angles depending on wavelengths, resulting in a mixed color.
Typically, when cloud iridescence of the sun is hidden from direct view. Many clouds start with uniform regions that could show raguenet, but quickly become too dense, heterogeneous or are located at a large angle from the sun.
