Taiwan's Lulin Observatory, located on the top of a mountain in Nantou County, recorded a flash of a bright celestial object that turned out to be a meteor. A fireball lit up the sky on July 7 just after midnight local time, reports The Watchers.
The movement of the luminous object across the sky lasted about 40 seconds, during this time there were four flashes, after which the object disintegrated.
Local residents also managed to notice and film the night event, sharing photos and videos on social networks.
According to AMS Meteors, several thousand meteors enter the Earth's atmosphere every day. The vast majority of them fly over oceans and sparsely populated regions, many are masked by daylight. Those that flare up at night also have little chance of being detected.
