Prelicence circle — an unforgettable sight. Bright and delicate halo surrounds the Zenith and passes through the disk of the sun, remaining motionless on one and the same distance from the horizon. Thursday, January 24, Sheila Wiwchar of Kalady, Canada, saw prelicence circle, but instead of the Sun's lower arc passed through the moon.
"It was awesome! The circle went around the entire night sky! I set the camera to record, simples video because I thought that the submission will take several hours, and it has paid off," said Wiwchar.
Prelicence circles typically occur when sunlight is reflected from vertical faces of ice crystals that float in thin Cirrus clouds and almost evenly distributed across the sky. In this case, the same trick performed a bright moonlight.
"Prelicence circle seems simple, but it has more radial circuits than in any other halo, and some of them are very complicated," said a reputable scientist Les Crawley.
