Last weekend, Earth passed through two streams of cosmic particles — a small solar-wind flux and dust flux of meteoroids left by the comet 21P / Giacobini — Zinner. On Sunday morning, October 8, Adrian Mauduit have seen the consequences of both events from the window of the plane flying off the coast of Greenland.
"I was at an altitude of about 12,000 metres over the Atlantic ocean, heading from Canada to Europe. Was one o'clock in the morning local time, when the lights, says Adrian. — Full Moon outshone all around, but despite this, the sky stretches a beautiful blue-green stripe. From time to time on the background geomagnetic light show swept the meteors — probably from the comet Giacobini — Zinner, the source of a meteor shower Draconids".
"When I'm flying near the Arctic, I always take place to the North and keep the camera ready. A night in the plane, you can see a lot of amazing, we need only look out the window!"
